The Wonderful LitRPG Wizard of Oz
Oisin Muldowney
Dorothy (Sorceress); Scarecrow (Bard); the Tin Woman (Paladin) and the Lioness (Barbarian) as an RPG party.
Dorothy was a level 1 Sorceress, who lived in the midst of the great Kansas prairies, with Uncle Henry, who was a level 0 NPC farmer, and Aunt Em, who was also an NPC, the farmer’s wife…
So begins the LitRPG version of the classic tale. One in which Dorothy is a Sorceress; Scarecrow is a Bard, attempting to remove a Curse that has brought his Intelligence to 0; the Tin Woman needs an Atonement to get her Paladin class back and the Lioness is a Barbarian who cannot Rage.
What if Oz were an RPG campaign and you were the gamers?
In front of them, and at the end of the road of yellow brick, was a big gate, all studded with emeralds that glittered so in the sun that even the painted eyes of the Scarecrow were dazzled by their brilliancy.
“I wonder if it’s possible to loot those?” muttered Scarecrow.

Great fun. Especially for gamers

This is a story that makes a surprising amount of sense as an RPG. Avoiding spoilers means I can’t spell it out, but there’s a good explanation for who Oz is and for why Dorothy can melt the Wicked Witch. It’s a lot of fun.

The author had a good idea, to turn The Wizard of Oz into a LitRPG and he’s done well with it. Very entertaining and amusing. I’d like to see the whole series continued, with Dorothy continuing to level up and become more powerful.
